Not right now, but this should be easy to do. I'll try to include it - how about adding two options to the keyboard search: "Ignore rhythm" and "absolute pitch" - that way you could also search for an interval sequence, which might be useful in cases where a melody is stored only in a transposed form (in that case you would only mark "ignore rhythm" and leave "absolute pitch" unchecked)?

For example, I know a melody with C'-C'-C'-Bb-Ab-Ab-Ab-Ab-Ab-Bb-Bb-Bb-Ab-C', but I can't remember the rymthm exactly. A contour search would generate too many results, while the keyboard search generate nonsense results. An absoulte pitch search would be very useful in this case.

well you can search by composer using the keywords box in the various search functions.

I like the idea of searching related melodies. But that algorithm would get pretty complicated pretty fast.

searching within existing search results would be on my wish list. :-)

It would be nice if it where possible to search melodies by title as well, and possibly (if they have added text) by some of the text also.
And it would be nice to search by composer.
And it would be nice if one could restrict search to one composer (like, I have f-g-as-c-b-g, and I know it is Brahms).
And: Is it possible to browse contents other then by searching for similarities (like, show me all entries, sorted by first interval)?

A lot of questions, I know. What do you think?

Add a bit of sheet music, along with a MIDI file, simply by entering note names in Lilypond syntax between the [L] and [/L] tags.
For example, you can try what happens if you enter: [l]g'4 g'4 d''4 d''4 e''4 e''4 d''2[/l] (use the Preview function if you don't actually want to post this).
You can create these lists of note names by clicking on piano keys here.

If you just want to sing, whistle, or play a melody so that other forum visitors can hear it, follow these steps:

1. Record your audio here.
2. You should notice a 32-character hash code, something like: 2a40281c5001c5a7d8c9f57fcdeccfaf
3. copy this hash code and paste it into a forum post, enclosed in the audio tags, for example: [audio]2a40281c5001c5a7d8c9f57fcdeccfaf[/audio]

If the original question in a thread is solved, please mark it as solved using the "solved" icon (or by just typing [solved] into your post). This makes life easier for people who are willing to identify melodies, since unsolved problems are easier to spot that way. If a problem turns out to not be solved after all, just write [/solved] in a new post, and the thread will be labeled accordingly.
