Well, well, while I am writing this, "nap store video" is
playing in the background in repeat mode! It sounds so nice!

I wrote you a personal message, from this board...
After sending i got this on my screen:

He, geweldig! geweldig! geweldig!!

You won't believe it, but I even saw that movie, like, half a year ago. I'm such an idiot when it comes to music :), I should have recognized it.
I would like the mp3, if you can get it, thanks, but I'm already glad you've emailed and found it.
So thanks a lot, this one's solved.

Yes you have a temporary government; I forgot that.
I have to watch "journaal laat" more :-)

Got the answer from the VPRO.
I think the problem is solved.

It is a part of the soundtrack of the movie
"Napoleon Dynamite". This track is "Nap Store Video"
composed by John Swihart

This is the movie:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374900/

and this is the amazon site of the soundtrack CD
You can check the track there by listening an example.
I already checked and the info of the VPRO is right.
http://www.amazon.com/Napoleon-Dynamite-John-Swihart/dp/samples/B0002XL1WG/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1

I am trying to download the "Nap Store Video" track
from P2P network, but there is a long long queue.
If I have finished downloading, and you would like the
mp3 too, we can fix that.
Many greetings!

Thanks a lot for the other posts and the email to vpro!
I also checked the credits at the end of the episode, but I couldn't find it.
I don't know exactly why I like it so much. I don't know anything about this kind of music, but it just swings (if that's the right word)! And I also love the sketch itself, I think the two go well together.

And a little rectification about that formation :), we DO have a government at the moment, but it's only temporary (and it doens't seem to be able to do that much either, haha).

Denk erom mart: we ZULLEN dit vinden!!!!!! haha :-)

continue in English:
I absolutely want to know the title too, so I took
some action. Tried the tap and the music-notation
search machines, but both find many Bach, Mendelssohn
and Beethoven :-)
I now put the question in 2 other forums, and I emailed
the VPRO too. I think it is a samba or Bossa Nova and
and orchestral version of a south american song.
It is too polite and sounds too easy for Herb Albert,
but it is too original for James Last or Mantovani.
Must be something between.

Could be something of Henri Mancini. He also composes
music with very simple melodies. Perhaps you know him
from the Pink Panther movies.

Why do you like this music?
I like it for the rhytm, the great orchestration, especially
the brass section, and the nice acoustic recording.
I guess we know the title earlier than the formation
of a new government in Belgium! :-)

@cantor
I've tried to put a comment on the site before, but indeed, it gives an error.
Ah, we'll see. (Maybe Jeroen and Dennis composed it themselves :D )
And you're right, the other version is much better.

@mart

The sound quality in this link is MUCH better
than the youtube version.

I tried to put a comment at that site, with
a question about music/composer/artist but
I cant get it fixed. It gives an error.
I keep trying again; I want to know the title too!! :-)

Hey there glindhot!
It seems to me that this answer is placed in the wrong topic,
but I am very very glad with your answer!!!
Thank you SO much!
I downloaded it, and it is exactly the music
used in the Bobby Fisher documentary!!!

I hope we can solve the question of mart too!
Thanks again.

How to insert music:

Add a bit of sheet music, along with a MIDI file, simply by entering note names in Lilypond syntax between the [L] and [/L] tags.
For example, you can try what happens if you enter: [l]g'4 g'4 d''4 d''4 e''4 e''4 d''2[/l] (use the Preview function if you don't actually want to post this).
You can create these lists of note names by clicking on piano keys here.

How to post an audio recording:

If you just want to sing, whistle, or play a melody so that other forum visitors can hear it, follow these steps:

  1. Record your audio here.
  2. You should notice a 32-character hash code, something like: 2a40281c5001c5a7d8c9f57fcdeccfaf
  3. copy this hash code and paste it into a forum post, enclosed in the audio tags, for example: [audio]2a40281c5001c5a7d8c9f57fcdeccfaf[/audio]

How to mark a thread as solved:

If the original question in a thread is solved, please mark it as solved using the "solved" icon (or by just typing [solved] into your post). This makes life easier for people who are willing to identify melodies, since unsolved problems are easier to spot that way. If a problem turns out to not be solved after all, just write [/solved] in a new post, and the thread will be labeled accordingly.
