search Musipedia for this
I don't know if I entered it incorrectly (first time user) or the melody is genuinely not there. It sounds fine. Not sure about the key, does it matter?
Could you please help?
Thanks. :)
The new search algorithm can now handle this problem. You don't even have to enter the whole query.
This is how it works:
- go to the main page (temporary URL: http://new.musipedia.org, will be http://www.musipedia.org in a day or so)
- enter the query, either in Lilypond syntax or by clicking on the keyboard (in this case, you need to edit the Lilypond text because there are no sixteenth notes on the keyboard). Here: dis'4 f'8 g'8. gis'16 g'8 f'4 d'8 ais8. c'16 d'8
- Hit the search button.
And the piece you are looking for is the first match that shows up:
http://www.musipedia.org/directory/lily+dis'4+f'8+g'8.+gis'16+g'8+f'4+d'8+ais8.+c'16+d'8
I didn't know that Busoni used this, too, but now I know...
The key does not matter, and nor does the duration of the notes as long as the overall rhythm is okay (in other words, the search is transposition-invariant and augmentation-invariant).
If you enter more notes, it will take more time, but you'll get more similar melodies (if they are there).
